Our Museum

The Museum of American Jewelry Design & Manufacturing was created to preserve and share the rich history of American jewelry-making—particularly the Industrial Age tools, techniques, and traditions that shaped the Providence, Rhode Island jewelry industry. While our space has evolved, this legacy remains at the heart of everything we do.

For years, the museum offered visitors a deeper look into the craftsmanship behind American jewelry, showcasing historic machinery, original tools, and the processes that once defined an entire industry. That commitment to preservation and education continues today through our workshop, our designs, and the way we create jewelry using traditional methods.

Though we no longer operate a dedicated museum space, the spirit of the museum lives on at Hugo Kohl Jewelry. Every piece we make is informed by the makers of the past—connecting yesterday’s craftsmanship with today’s jewelry and tomorrow’s heirlooms.
